Wednesday practice notes

By Hayden Sowers

After what Hugh Freeze thought was a sloppy Tuesday practice, Freeze was short and simple when asked how to describe Wednesday’s 90 minute practice, “Today was much better, no question.”

  • Starting S Trae Elston and CB Charles Sawyer were back at practice today, “Yeah they moved around good today and that was good to see,” from Freeze.  Look for both Sawyer and Elston to be ready to go Saturday.
  • Sawyer’s opposite starting CB, Senquez Golson, was held out of practice today due to an illness, but Freeze expects him back tomorrow and ready to go Saturday.
  • Arkansas’s defense struggled early, but as of late they’ve been better only giving up a touchdown each of the past two games.  Freeze was asked about that unit, “Steady improvement from them.”
  • OC Dan Werner on Arkansas’s defense, “They have a really good defensive line that’s active. The inside guys are big and strong and their outside guys can really run. They’ve given up some big plays, but again that was early and the last couple of weeks they’ve really settled in and only given up a touchdown a game.”
  • DL Woodrow Hamilton was still out today and it looks like he won’t be able to go on Saturday.
