Five memorable games

From the Baton Rouge Advocate, Scott Rabalais lists the five most significant games of the Ole Miss-LSU series from the LSU perspective.

Five memorable games

The list does include an Ole Miss win, an Archie Manning-led 26-23 decision in 1969.

No. 1 on the list, to no surprise, is the Billy Cannon game.

There’s no mention of the Rebels’ Sugar Bowl win that followed the Billy Cannon game.

Dec. 5, 1970 — LSU 61, Ole Miss 17: If memory serve me, Archie played in this game with his broken arm in a cast, the Rebels went on to the Gator Bowl and was beaten by Auburn. I believe that LB for U of Houston intentional hit Archie with a dirty hit to injury him and broke his arm.
