A change in schedule at Ole Miss today. Hugh Freeze will meet with media at 1 p.m. for his regularly scheduled presser. The Rebels, though, were given Sunday as their off day after Saturday’s 41-35 loss at LSU. They will practice today and player interviews will be conducted after practice, somewhat later than a regular Monday …

Speaking of LSU, Tigers coach Les Miles can be press conference gold, and he got a little extra emotional following the game, which was the last at home for LSU seniors. The Tigers finish the regular season this Friday at struggling Arkansas, the game that was moved from Little Rock to Fayetteville and left the opening for the Ole Miss game to move to Little Rock. …

The regular season finale of Tennessee at Kentucky will not feature two lame-duck coaches. Kentucky announced the firing of Joker Phillips a couple of weeks ago, and it was decided that Phillips would finish the season. Tennessee announced the firing of Derek Dooley on Sunday, and it was decided Dooley would not coach against Kentucky. Having covered the three Ole Miss games last year after the firing of Houston Nutt was announced, I don’t think allowing the dismissed coach to remain is a good thing. …

From Birmingham, columnist Kevin Scarbinsky says Nick Saban should call and offer a word of thanks to Baylor running back Lache Seastrunk.

From Auburn, coach Gene Chizik doesn’t regret his decision to switch to the pro style offense, although struggles on that side of the ball have been a big part of the Tigers’ downfall this season. It’s Iron Bowl week across the border, but the game may be a mere formality in Alabama’s march to Atlanta. …

It’s also rivalry week for Georgia, Florida and at South Carolina, where Steve Spurrier and Clemson’s Dabo Swinney have done a little verbal jousting already this season. …
