FINAL: Ole Miss 76, McNeese State 50

Murphy Holloway’s return sparked the Rebels in the second half. He finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. Marshall Henderson’s night got not better. He was 2-for-10 from 3, finished with nine points and four turnovers in 27 minutes. With him in the tank, the Rebels were 3-for-14 from 3.

Andy Kennedy

Sloppy play by the Rebels. They should be able to handle this team even with Derrick Millinghaus out and Murphy Holloway on the bench with two fouls.

Holloway played only 6 minutes in the half.

Reggie Buckner has 9 for Ole Miss, Nick Williams 8, Jarvis Summers 7.

Lots of LaDarius White as the backup point with Millinghaus out.

Ole Miss is shooting 46.4 but so is McNeese, which is shooting just 39.5 percent on the season.

Rebels are 10-for-12 at the free throw line and have a 19-15 edge on the boards.

McNeese chased Marshall Henderson around and did a good job limiting his touches. He’s 2-for-7 from 3 and has six points, one assist, three turnovers in 16 minutes.

The Rebels are 3-0, the Cowboys, of the Southland Conference, are 1-2. Tip is at 7, about 54 minutes out.

Freshman point guard Derrick Millinghaus had 19 points against UALR last Friday. At some point in that game he sustained a torn meniscus. He had surgery today and will miss the next four weeks. That’s a big blow to what was developing into a nice point guard situation for Andy Kennedy with both Jarvis Summers and Millinghaus getting quality minutes at the position. If Millinghaus is back in four weeks he could possibly be ready for the California-Hawaii trip. That’s four games there. If he misses the trip, there will be one non-conference game — Jan. 4 at home against Fordham — before SEC play begins.
