Tuesday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Tuesday morning. …

The Ole Miss women’s basketball dropped its first game of the season last night, falling 85-71 to Lamar. …

Who’s next at Tennessee? There are a number of names to ponder on this Knoxville News-Sentinel list.

From Alabama, Gov. Robert Bentley weighs in on the Iron Bowl and says that records don’t matter for this game. They may matter after this game for Auburn coach Gene Chizik who is about to engineer a quite rare Auburn 0-8 SEC record. I will see, however, the imminent firing talk for Chizik seems less than what you were hearing for Derek Dooley.

On the field, freshman Jonathan Wallace, Auburn’s third starting quarterback this season, is earning respect. …

Meanwhile, Alabama’s school up north, the Crimson Tide, says it’s focusing on struggling Auburn and nothing else, in spite of the fact that recent events have the Tide back in the driver’s seat for a BCS title game appearance. …

From New Orleans, LSU punt returner Odell Beckham says he felt like it was up to him to make a play against Ole Miss, and his 89-yard punt return TD was a game-changer. …

From Fayetteville, Arkansas interim coach John L. Smith gets a little emotional in looking back at his season with the Razorbacks. …
