Q: On Banks.
“Well he’s fast, and he has great hips. Guys will put really good moves on him, and he’s still able to cover them. Obviously he gets a lot of interceptions too. Guy is a great player.”
Q: On their defensive schemes.
“On first and second down not as much and then on third down they like to bring the pressure to a three- man front. They’ll bring it from both sides and up to middle. They cause a lot of problems protection -wise.
Q: On running success against LSU.
“Well we kept them off balance. The fact that we’ve been throwing so well the past two games, 700 yards the past two games, is going to open up the run game a little bit for us.”
Q: On Josh Boyd.
“He’s big and physical. He’s your typical SEC lineman and we’ve got some stuff we need to work on to contain him and make sure he’s not in our backfield.”
Q: On the sacks maybe coming during the second half more than the first. Is it fatigue?
“Well sacks happen because of a number of things. It could be a coverage sackm and it could be because the quarterback waited to long to throw it. It could a running back screwing up, and when you throw it as much as we have the past couple of weeks you are going to get them.’
Q: What does Bo have to do against this defense?
“The No. 1 thing is to always protect the football. He’s done a good job, but last week we had a few and not all of them were his fault. If we protect the football and stay on schedule good things will happen.”
Q: On Devin Thomas getting more time against LSU
“He’s a really good pass protector for us so we needed him on third down when the back was going to be involved and he did a really good job for us.”
Q: What’s your remembrance of the rivalry?
“Well the first year we came down from the press box after a winning the game. Being the first year I knew it was important, but I didn’t realize just how important it was until I got down on the field and we had the egg bowl trophy and everybody was screaming and it was big time. I told the coaches I didn’t realize it was like that. The next year they won it back and that made me learn real quick that that is what it’s all about for this state.”
