Aftermath of the hit on Georgia’s Aaron Murray

Jon Solomon of The Birmingham News updates the aftermath of the hit from Alabama defensive lineman Quinton Dial on Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray. SEC coordinator of officials Steve Shaw says the game officials missed the call. The link has video of the hit, which wasn’t even penalized. There’s no mention of a possible suspension, which would mean Dial would miss the national championship game. The story details the two SEC players who were suspended this year, one of them Ole Miss freshman Trae Elston. Alabama also had an incident earlier in the year when a reserve defensive lineman picked up a Missouri running back and bounced him on his head.

Though I am pulling for the SEC in the national championship game, the Alabama player should be suspended for the hit.

The SEC is run by Alabama. They will never do any more or less than what the kind folks at Alabama tell them to do. Look for Saban to lobby for a “minimum turnover time on downs to allow for player substitutions for the safety of the players.” He knows that’s how A&M beat him this year, as well as, how Ole Miss played them so well.

i was grilling and running back and forth to see the game. I missed his play but did hear about it. I PA other blog i followed the link and saw the play. should suspepnd cased closed. If elston got suspended and this guy doesnt then i might have to listen to more of the conspiracy stories about bama and the sec, whats worse is the comments by bama fans at the end of the artical. I thought State fans were bad but bama gives them some competition
