Austin on the move

Kent Austin is taking his game back north of the border.

The former Ole Miss quarterback and offensive coordinator under Houston Nutt, Austin has been named head coach and director of operations for the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the CFL.

Austin has been a part of four CFL championships as a player or coach with Saskatchewan and Toronto organizations, mostly Saskatchewan.

He leaves for Hamilton after a 4-6 season as head coach at Cornell. The fact that Austin was 11-19 in three seasons at Cornell probably says more about Cornell than Austin.

Austin’s name surfaced as a candidate to replace Nutt, but it never really gained traction in the rumor mill.

  • I feel that Kent Austin got the shaft from that bunch of losers up there at Ole MIss, but maybe they did him a favor and did not realize it. They are still losers until proven otherwise. They could have been a winner this season but blew the chance, by losing to LSU, Texas A&M, and Vandy..Forty years forward in the wilderness.
