Increasing the tempo

Hugh Freeze was hired to fix the offense at Ole Miss, and while the numbers are considerably better than they’ve been the past two seasons, Freeze believes things will be better next year when he can do more of what he likes to do, and that’s increase the tempo.

Offensive linemen unfamiliar with a scheme vastly different from what they had previously experienced plus depth issues on the OL and defense kept Freeze from running his tempo game as much as he wanted this season. In a perfect world he says he’ll run it about 80 percent of the time.

Next year won’t be a perfect world, but it will be better for tempo than it was in this, his first season.

Awaiting the start of practice now. Notes and video on the blog in the afternoon.
