SEC Power Rankings

With the college football season complete, at least as it relates to playing games, here’s a way-too-early look at the preseason SEC Power Rankings for 2013.

I struggled with the placement of Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. Both were playing really well at the end of the season. Ole Miss, while not finishing enough drives with touchdowns against the Commodores, did enough to win the game had the spot been right on Vanderbilt’s final drive. Vanderbilt also loses a little more from this team than Ole Miss does.

Whatever the case, it’s a huge game for Ole Miss to open the season in Nashville, the beginning of a daunting early-season road schedule for the Rebels.

At the bottom of the rankings, Arkansas made an aggressive hire, but I like Auburn’s chances for quick improvement. The players there were already recruited for Gus Malzhan’s system, and Malzahn has obviously been given a big budget to put together a staff.

1 Alabama 1

2 Georgia 2

3 Texas A&M 3

4 South Carolina 6

5 LSU 5

6 Florida 4

7 Ole Miss 8

8 Vanderbilt 7

9 MSU 9

10 Auburn 13

11 Arkansas 11

12 Missouri 10

13 Tennessee 12

13 Kentucky 14

seems about right, would not be suprised if state falls this year, not anti state, want to pull for them but not with mullins, i think he benefited more from croom cleaning up state than folks want to admit, he had one great year and its going down from there
last year barely made a bowl by beating rebs, this year, a soft schedule only got them there

  • Parrish, didn’t you mean to say that “Malzahn has obviously been given a big budget to put together a team with?”
