Treadwell picks Ole Miss

For Ole Miss, the best surprise was no surprise.

The most tense moments for Laquon Treadwell at his web-televised announcement presser was the seemingly long time it took for the 6-3 wide receiver to dip below the podium then stand up with an Ole Miss cap and sweatshirt.

Clearly, Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze made an impact on Treadwell.

“I chose Ole Miss, because I want to be a part of something special,” Treadwell said. “Coach Freeze does a great job of developing young men. I believe in his vision and leadership. He stresses love and is a very positive man. I believe in coach Freeze. He is changing the culture, and I want to be a part of returning Rebel Nation to glory. Win the day.”

Ole Miss had long been considered the leader, but different recruiting analysts and media were of the opinion that Oklahoma State had made up significant ground of late.

Treadwell is ranked the No. 1 wide receiver, the No. 10 player overall, by ESPN ranks Treadwell as the No. 1 wide receiver and the No. 19 player in its ESPN 150. ranks Treadwell as its No. 5 wide receiver and No. 37 player overall.

Verbal commitments are non-binding. National Signing Day is Feb. 6.
