Golson will focus on football

Ole Miss two-sport athlete Senquez Golson has decided to give up one sport – baseball.

More here with Creg Stephenson from GulfLive.com.

Golson finished the football season with three interceptions, all coming in the last three games when he looked more comfortable. At the beginning of the season, Golson, in some ways, was like a freshman all over again. He was being introduced to a completely new coaching staff that he didn’t see in the previous spring, because he was with baseball.

What Golson was trying to do is not easy. It takes a gifted athlete to pull that off, but the demands of each sport today, basically becoming year-round in the attention they require, can make a gifted athlete look average. It will be interesting to see what strides Golson makes with football as he goes through spring drills.
