RPI Watch

Looking at NCAA resume numbers here. WarrenNolan.com has the Rebels’ RPI at 31, strength of schedule at 119 following the 63-61 win at Auburn.

Auburn is one of the sub-200 RPI SEC teams that will be a big hit to the resume if you lose the game. It doesn’t matter that the Tigers play with effort and play physical.

This week Ole Miss has No. 62 RPI Kentucky at home and travels Saturday to No. 5 RPI Florida.

Kentucky is 0-4 against RPI top 50 teams; Florida is 4-2; Ole Miss is 1-1.

The Rebels and Gators are currently the last two SEC unbeatens. Florida’s win streak of eight games is second to Ole Miss’ win streak of nine games.

Rpi only important if the win total is not good enough. Winning out at home will be more than enough to go to the Big Dance. RPI will also be fine. However we are no longer playing for entry into the tourney. Rather it is all about seeding from here. Likely a 5-6 seed now hopefully can move up to 2-3.
