Monday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Monday morning …

The Rebels will hope to benefit from this weekend’s big guest list of recruits. Obviously Chris Jones of Houston will be a name to watch in the coming days, but one analyst says all the buzz starts with Robert Nkemdiche. …

The college basketball rankings come out later today. Ole Miss will presumably rise, though I wouldn’t think too much. The Rebels found ways to win and played really good for periods of time in comebacks against Tennessee and Auburn, but they weren’t dominant in either game.

Here is AL.com’s take on Marshall Henderson in the Rebels’ 63-61 win at Auburn Saturday night.

No doubt the Rebels are on peoples’ radar as Kentucky comes to town tomorrow night. Henderson makes mention of the Kentucky game in the above link.

There’s good reading here to catch up with Kentucky from John Clay of the Lexington Herald-Leader. This Kentucky freshman class isn’t as advanced as those in years past, but that doesn’t mean the Cats lack talent, particularly in young post player Nerlens Noel. …

The Super Bowl is this Sunday, and Ole Miss will have a starter on each team, LB Patrick Willis with the Niners and OL Michael Oher with the Ravens.

Willis has always looked up to Baltimore LB Ray Lewis, and now he’ll be trying to knock off Lewis’ team in the final game of Lewis’ storied career. …

Oher’s path to the Super Bowl wasn’t smooth. It included a mid-year switch to a new offensive coordinator and a position change for Oher as he moved from one side of the line to the other. …

  • My sources are telling me to look for a breaking story that has it’s roots in the University of Miami scandal. We all know that the NCAA collected information about Shapiro in an unethical way, but there is more. I am hearing that a certain Ole Mi$$ coach has been mentioned in testimony concerning the scandal. From what I am told, Ole Mi$$ may be losing or “loosing” it’s Offensive Coordinator….We will have to wait to see how all this unfolds. Could be the 1st domino to fall, concerning the NCAA’s impending investigation of Ole Mi$$?

Yes, I also heard that recruits were turning away from State because of Mullen’s lack of faith in God. I hear they are going to let time stay one more year, and then try to hire Manny back from the Horns. But just like your story, I just made it up as I typed. We do know Moo U tried to buy Cam, but just didn’t have enough cash.

Your sources are your hurt feelings from the fact that Ole Miss kicked your behind in the egg bowl and are now doing it in recruiting. Poor Moo-U. You sad sad little Troll
