Final: Kentucky 87, Ole Miss 74

Freshman forward Nerlens Noel had only two points but was the difference in the game with his school-record 12 blocked shots, tying for third-most in SEC single-game history.

Not a good early prognosis on Aaron Jones and Nick Williams. MRIs tomorrow for both. The Rebels could be much thinner for a time moving forward.

Here’s Andy Kennedy’s postgame

Video here of King Kobraz, better known as the Feed Moncrief guys. They’ve got a basketball song out, and it plays in this video. Students are passing around group members Blake Pruett and Patrick Haadsma, both of Tupelo, while the school shoots its own video:

Elsewhere in the pre-game, this shot of Ole Miss working to cash in on the attention directed to Marshall Henderson.

From earlier today:

Here’s the deal with Henderson. He’s not going to change, and he doesn’t have to change as long as he maintains an in-ward focus with his enthusiasm. The hard part, as he continues to walk the line of acceptable and unacceptable, will be for Henderson not to become angry at opposing fans and cross that line. Opposing fans will try to lure him to the other side. If that happens, that’s when Henderson’s personality begins to hurt Ole Miss. From the mother ship: Henderson is part of the show

Do you remember MSU’s football team was ranked No. 13 going into the Alabama game? Then the wheels fell off. Different team- different sports – same scenario?

  • Alright, we got that out of the way….Enough with the attention. Let’s focus on basketball. Andy got his butt handed to him tonight. There has to be some low post presence. Period!!!!! Andy’s history is he is a chunker. Live by the three and die by it. Ole Miss is NC State of SEC….Talented with a marginal coach. Buckner and Holloway have to be more of a force offensively. Truthfully, this team is decent but have struggled against very average teams. You could see this coming. Hopefully Andy will look at tape and realize that you have to create pressure on the inside forcing help and then you have looks on the perimeter. Henderson expounds so much energy trying to get open and when unable the offense stalls. This is a bad loss at home and now you’re staring at two in a row as I don’t see this team beating Gators in the O’Connell Center.
