How do you feel about Henderson?

Here’s the USA Today online piece on Marshall Henderson that appeared yesterday.

USA Today obtained court documents to find why it was ruled that Henderson violated his probation. The probation came after a 2010 charge of forgery.

The story stays Tarrant County, Texas documents show that Henderson tested positive for cocaine, marijuana and alcohol in January of 2012.

Second chances are a part of college sports. Ole Miss has given plenty of them through the years in its high-profile sports. Football coach Hugh Freeze is experimenting with former Southern Miss QB Anthony Alford and extending a second chance right now. Sometimes they work out for both parties.

The second chance at college basketball didn’t work out for Jelan Kendrick and Ole Miss last year. Nor did the second chance extended to Jason Carter earlier this year.

So far, it’s working with Henderson, but Henderson’s personality and willingness to engage with road fans will have him walking the line of acceptable and unacceptable behavior each time the Rebels leave home.

He has been loved by most Ole Miss fans for what he brings to the team and for helping the Rebels to a 17-2 start prior to Tuesday’s loss to Kentucky.

The question is, how do you feel about Marshall Henderson in light of this new information? Does it change anything.

Henderson has made it quite clear that he doesn’t care what other people think about him.

It’s strong individualism that can be applauded at times, but, I contend, there has to be a little bit of care on the part of the individual. Just a little care. It comes back to a matter of trust, trust between the player and the team, the fans, the administration.

    He’s getting a second chance.

If MH keeps his nose clean and clear of the law (NCAA rules too), then no problem. Just continue being a good team member, being coach-able, making shots, and entertaining both home & away fans who pay to see hoops games.

  • How do I feel about Henderson? I feel that he has been a great asset to that Ole Miss basketball team. One of the reasons for them riding at the top of SEC. Rebels have a very good chance for NCAA tournament play this season, just don’t blow it.

It does not bother me at all. I hope that he continues to improve & lead the team, SEC & the NCAA in numerous categories. Ole Miss athletics need an attitude & Henderson provides it in basketball.

I think he acts like a clown and is an embarrassment, shame on Kennedy for allowing him to act like an a$$…its only a matter of time before he goes to far. Apparently he was never taught the lesson “humble in victory, gracious in defeat”
