Rebels Rise

Ole Miss jumped five spots in today’s release of the Baseball America top 25 climbing to No. 8 after a weekend sweep of TCU.

The Horned Frogs were No. 14, Ole Miss No. 13 in the preseason poll.

Ole Miss jumped over SEC rivals Kentucky and LSU in this week’s list.

North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Louisville — coached by former Ole Miss assistant Dan McDonnell — then Mississippi State, Oregon State and South Carolina.

LSU is No. 9.

  • A very good past week-end of baseball for the Rebels – a sweep over a very good TCU team and a rise in the polls. Don’t celebrate too much yet, next week-end Rhode Island is coming to Oxford for a three game series. I don’t know much about them but they came here this past week-end and got swept by the FSU Noles. It could have probably been the first outdoor playing time for the Rhodies this season due to the weather up there. They gave up 25 runs to the Noles, but on the other hand they scored 13 runs against good FSU pitching. So this definitely will be a challenge for this newly established Rebel baseball team. JB
