Ole Miss 11, Florida International 9

Here’s the line on Bobby Wahl: 5.1 innings, 9 hits, 4 runs, 4 ER, 3 BB, 4 SO.

FIU went into the series hitting .329, but that’s the second-straight sub-par outing for Wahl. Something to keep an eye on.

The Panthers will throw their best pitcher today, and his numbers have been pretty good through 12 innings, no earned runs allowed.

First pitch is 3 p.m.

The Rebels had given up only four runs in the entire series against both TCU and Rhode Island.

The most runs allowed in a game this season had been four in a 4-3 loss to Memphis.

Fortunately the Rebels had season-highs for weekend competition with 11 runs and 16 hits. Austin Anderson was 4-for-5, Stuart Turner 3-for-5, and both had three RBIs. Auston Bousfield was 3-for-6.

Ole Miss improves to 9-1. Game 2 is at 3 p.m. Saturday.

I watched the game live on my computer, and at time thought the Rebels were going to blow it. Bobby Wahl was not the only OM pitcher to get roughed up, that unknown team hit 4 home runs off OM pitching. JB

JB you might have listened to the game, but you didn’t watch it. It was not televised on any site. This unknown team as you say is no little team. They have some really good players and are the 2nd largest university in Florida. I don’t think they have lost but 2 games this year. Baseball isn’t like football, these “little teams” actually have a pretty even playing field. One factor in their 9 runs was the lighting conditions at the field. OM players are not use to playing under flashlights. The poor lighting combined with the high winds and low visibility helped the Panthers in their home field game. I will be at the game today cheering on my Rebels. I just can’t take anymore of the keys. This whole state is a poo hole dump.

Colorado Reb, , but it was televised on the Florida international web site,as WildRebel stated above.. Sorry that you don’t like our State, Its much different up here in the Panhandle I could agree with you about the Florida Keys. I have never been down there and do not care to go. When I was in the USAF we did land at Homestead AFB once. Hurricane Andrew took care of Homestead. Another Hurricane many years back did give the Florida Keys a washing drowning something like about 900 people. JB

Sorry about that Jb. I looked on their website but wasnt able to find the OM game…must have been the internet at the hotel. Im here at the game tonight. OM is looking good 8-2 in the bottom of the 9th. Lots and lots of scouts here looking at Mayers and Turner. My 1st time to see the diamond Rebs live in 6 years. Almost heaven. Nice campus here too.
