Spanning the globe on a Thursday morning …

Oregon and the NCAA disagree on the severity of the school’s violation regarding its relationship with a “talent scout.” …

Kirby Smart was mentioned as a candidate for the Ole Miss job when Hugh Freeze was hired. Turns out, Smart didn’t have to leave his assistant coaching job at Alabama to become a millionaire. His salary bump of $65,000 took him to $1.15 million.

Interesting to note that Alabama’s assistant coaches are paid less than LSU assistants … but not by much. …

In an NFL draft that’s not deep on running backs, Eddie Lacy could be the best. Gilbert Pena is the best chance to hear the Ole Miss name called on draft day. Pena helped himself in all-star play, but free agency is still the more likely scenario. …

Ole Miss wasn’t the only school to deal with injuries in spring football. The most devastating might have been at Arizona, which lost wide receiver Austin Hill, a Biletnikoff Award semifinalist, to an ACL. He had 81 catches last year.

The Rebels had a number of key players miss some or all of spring drills. One such player, defensive end C.J. Johnson, was lost during the drills with a broken leg.

But all are expected to be ready for August.
