Ole Miss 6, Tennessee 4

Ole Miss wins the series and will go for its second-straight SEC sweep tomorrow. First pitch is 1 p.m central, and the game will be televised by ESPNU.

The win helps the Rebels climb above .500 in the SEC for the first time since dropping Game 2 against Florida to fall to 4-4. The Rebels are now 9-8 in the league.

Twenty-six hits in two days for the Rebels. More importantly, 11 runs for a team that had scored 1 run or been shut out eight times in its previous 15 gams.

Today’s Heroes:

Will Jamison 2-for-4, triple, home run.

Sikes Orvis 2-for-5, home run.

Stuart Turner 2-for-5

Andrew Mistone 2-for-4

RHP Mike Mayers went 6.0 innings, 4 hits, 3 runs, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 SO. Matt Denny got the win in relief. Brett Huber pitched the ninth. He struck out the side, facing five batters to earn his ninth seave.

It was 3-3 in the eighth when Orvis’ home run put Ole Miss in front. The Rebels added two in the ninth.

As you say:”Brett Huber pitched the ninth. He struck out the side, facing five batters to earn his ninth seave.” Out of one of those five batters was a Home run. I don’t have much confidence in this guy on the mound. I believe he is over rated. JB
