Ole Miss junior right-hander Bobby Wahl has been projected as a first-round draft pick after this season.
While he has at times struggled with walks this season he’s kept an ERA will below 2.00 because teams have struggled to hit him. His opponent’s batting average is just 1.83.
After last Friday’s complete-game shutout of Tennessee Wahl is 8-0 with a 1.22 ERA.
With numbers like that how do you keep from thinking about the draft during the season?
Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco says it’s simple. You don’t keep from thinking about the draft. Bianco talks about how Wahl stays grounded and much more here:
Wahl shares this week’s SEC pitcher of the week award with LSU’s Aaron Nola who also had a complete-game shutout on Friday, his coming against Alabama.
Wahl says he really does try to push away draft thoughts right now and lets his family take care of whatever contact there is with MLB scouts.
He also says his teammates help him stay grounded.
The Rebels are in action tonight at 6:30 at Arkansas State. Ole Miss won the first meeting 10-4 in Oxford on March 27.
