Kendricks talks pole vault

I visited Monday with Ole Miss sophomore Sam Kendricks, who currently has the world’s best jump in the pole vault.¬†Kendricks cleared 19-0.75 at the Texas Relays. It’s the best mark in the NCAA since 1998.

That jump got him into a Drake Relays competition with professional athletes and former Olympians. In the nine-person competition, Kendricks was the only current NCAA athlete. He jumped 18-0.5 and finished third.

Next on the schedule is the SEC meet at Missouri.
