FINAL: William & Mary 4, Ole Miss 2

William & Mary didn’t rip the cover off the ball but didn’t have to against Mike Mayers.

Mayers lasts only 4.2 innings, walks six, two of them to force in runs. Andrew Mistone commits two errors, both in the Tribe’s four-run fifth, the latter allowing two runs to score.

Ole Miss struggles to score against left-hander Jason Inghram. The Rebels had eight hits, half of them from left-handed batters Tanner Mathis (2), Austin Anderson and Will Jamison.

The Rebels, though, were 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

The game ended with a fly ball from Stuart Turner with two runners on.

Mayer blew it! Mistone did commit two errors but he made a runs saving play late in the game. All those ingenious ideas that I have read about here did not work. Now the Rebels will have to go to their All-American pitcher to try to stay in the tournament. A Mississippi boy came in to rescue Mayer, but Rebels could not give him the runs he needed. Now a loss tomorrow and Ole Miss baseball season will be OVER for this year..
