Missouri’s challenge

Interesting read here from Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Missouri baseball. The Tigers had been a postseason regular for a while but struggled in their first season in the SEC, offense being the main issue.

Ole Miss and Missouri have a recent postseason history. They went 1-1 against each other in Miami in 2008 when the Rebels advanced to the championship game against the host team.

Missouri was a part of the Oxford Regional field in 2009 but did not face Ole Miss.

The Rebels faced Tennessee on the road and won three games.

They did not get the chance to face Georgia, which went 7-20, or Missouri, which went 10-20. Numbers suggest Ole Miss’ 15-15 SEC mark would have benefitted in those matchups.

The Rebels did lose SEC series to Auburn and Texas A&M, but the Western Division was noticeably better than the East.
