Jones, Cox on comeback trail

From the Mother Ship, our update this morning on injured basketball players Aaron Jones and Demarco Cox.

Rehab is going well for both of them. Both are excited to get back and work with teammates, but you can tell both are also dealing with the trust factor and wondering how much their bodies can take.

The ACL for Jones and the foot for Cox — which required two surgeries — is the first major injury for each player.

They’re an intriguing tandem, because they are the most experienced returning players on a frontcourt that loses the career leading rebounder and career leading shot-blocker. In a perfect world, Jones and Cox would have played last season and would have made the frontcourt deeper, possibly resulting in another win or two depending how things might have played out.

At the very least they would have been more experienced in bigger roles going into this season.

As it stands, both have shown talent and ability in games, though neither has played that “go to” role.
