Breaking bricks again

Since I don’t typically take vacation during the sports year it comes in three phases in the summer.

Phase 1 is complete, and I’m breaking bricks again this week. Thanks to John Luke McCord for filling in on the blog.

I’ll be out for two more weeks later this month.

Phase 1 included a couple of days in the Cherokee National Forest, one on the Ocoee River, one on the Hiwassee River. It was a blast.

I kept one eye open on the Ole Miss beat, and there was a lot of news for an otherwise slow time beginning with the mini-drama surrounding Bobby Wahl’s signing with Oakland.

The next days included the racism charge and subsequent apology of Hoover, Ala., cornerback Marlon Humphrey and the NCAA reprimand of Marshall Henderson.

Also included in the week was Stuart Turner being named the Johnny Bench Award winner as college baseball’s top catcher, and a pro contract signed by Olympian and track star Isiah Young.

Sounds like a buys week while I was away.
