Baptist departs; Top basketball prospect decides today

by John Luke McCord

Ole Miss baseball signee, Corey Baptist, announced yesterday via twitter that he would be leaving the program. Here is what he tweeted about the situation:

Baptist is 6-4 220 and was brought in to play first base. He was ranked as the 500th player in the country by Perfect Game.

Marcanvis Hymon to decide today

Today Ole Miss is expected to receive a commitment from a forward prospect out of Memphis Whitehaven High School. Hymon is a 6-6 stretch four type of player who could if need be play the three. His finalists are Arkansas, Memphis, Auburn, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss. He will announce around 6:45 eastern time today. Rivals ranks him as the 101st best player in the country. Scout ranks him as a non-ranked three star prospect. 247sports ranks him as 111th best player in nation.
