Saturday Practice Update

The first media-viewed day of practice for Ole Miss was much like early camp last year — a starting wide receiver went down with an injury.

Last year it was Collins Moore. Today it was Vince Sanders, who was escorted off the field for an X-ray on his shoulder after he was tackled to the ground in the non-contact workout.

There’s no immediate word on Sanders’ status.

Here’s Freeze after practice.

A number of players were held out of the practice including both starting cornerbacks Senquez Golson and Charles Sawyer.

It seemed like every time Chris Kiffin had the chance he was up in Robert Nkemdiche’s pads getting him ready to play. Here’s an example of that.

Clearly they want last year’s No. 1 recruit on the field, and physically he’s gifted. There were times today that Nkemdiche looked like he was taking it all in, and it’s going to take a little while to acclimate.

There were a number of freshmen in the two deep, Laquon Treadwell and Tony Conner among them.

Kailo Moore worked with the offense, though Freeze said he’s pondering the move of the speedy running back over to cornerback.

The only freshman running with the first team was offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil. That’s because Pierce Burton was out with a back strain.

Left tackle Emmanuel McCray moved over to Burton’s right side spot, and Tunsil ran with the ones at left tackle.

Here’s a little bit of Tunsil, No. 78.
