Monday 8.12 Practice Update

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze says he doesn’t know anything about the NCAA’s questioning of MSU freshman Chris Jones.

Jones, a five-star defensive end from Houston (the Mississippi one), visited only MSU and Ole Miss before signing with the Bulldogs.

Freeze said all he knows is what he saw in the CBS report.

The Rebels will practice again this evening, a lighter workout that will be closed to media.

Freeze thought his offense was better today, a step up from Saturday’s scrimmage when he was disappointed in that group.

Here’s Freeze:

From the four media viewing periods …

Mark Dodson, Carlos Thompson, Evan Engram, Cameron Whigham and Robert Nkemdiche were in full dress and at practice.

Nkemdiche, who left Saturday’s scrimmage early with what was described as a minor groin injury, was running first team at left defensive end with C.J. Johnson on the right side.

Freshman RB I’Tavius Mathers was in a boot with a sprained ankle and did not practice.

Bo Wallace looked pretty good in the one team period during the viewing session. He connected three times with Donte Moncrief, twice for gains of more than 20 yards, one of those a touchdown.

Speaking of the passing game expect the running backs to be involved heavily. Here’s RB coach Derrick Nix working with his guys.

Aaron Morris was running first team at left offensive guard. Jared Duke held that spot for the second half of last week but was back at second team. Morris will win the job, but Duke will be better for the reps in the quest for OL depth.

Also on the OL, Robert Conyers was at second team center in place of Austin Douglas. Conyers, a redshirt freshman, was the primary second right tackle last week. Ethan Hutson and Patrick Junen were lined up there with the second team today. Junen also played some at second team right guard. He participated lightly in the team drills then went to the bike as we were leaving.

Austin Golson played on the second team  at tackle and guard on the right side.

Second team QB reps went to Barry Brunetti first then Devante Kincade on the next series.

Carlos Thompson and Channing Ward were the second team ends.

Corners Senquez Golson and Charles Sawyer are still out. Quintavius Burdette and Dehendret Collins are running first team, freshman Bobby Hill and sophomore Anthony Standifer  on the second team.

Your right turf guy they let Miss St off with a hand slap. But there is no need for players at Miss St. to transfer just because the NCAA is following up on its investigation on them.

Who is this turf guy you speak of?

couldn’t you at least show some originality instead of sounding just exactly like every other internet troll?
