Catching up with Robert Henry

I caught up with Robert Henry a few minutes ago. He was Billy Brewer’s defensive coordinator for four seasons.

Since he left Ole Miss in 1991 Henry, a Corinth native, has had a number of stops, several in Division II.

He’s beginning his third season as coordinator at Gulf South Conference member West Alabama under Will Hall, the former Amory quarterback.

Last year in a 9-4 season that included two playoff games Henry’s unit led the nation in pass defense and ranked third in total defense.

UWA led the Gulf South Conference in five defensive categories. Defensive end Ridge Wilson was named the league’s defensive player of the year, and three players from that team are in NFL camps right now.

Henry was at Ole Miss from 1988-1991, a span that included two winning seasons, a Liberty Bowl win over Air Force and a Gator Bowl loss to Michigan.

“I remember the kids that played for me. They were a great bunch of people. Obviously I remember Chucky Mullins, and I remember the 28 wins in my four years there, the bowl games. Most of all I remember the players. I still keep in touch with some of them. It was a great time.”

……, “in December 1993, Brewer and Ole Miss were again hit by allegations
of recruiting violations. The NCAA would eventually cite the program
for 15 transgressions, all of them serious and some of them
embarrassingly lurid. An NCAA report said that Ole Miss boosters and
coaches had offered recruits gifts, including cash and, in one case, a
car. Boosters were also accused of breaking national rules by taking
recruits 30 miles outside of Oxford, sometimes to strip clubs in
Most damningly, the NCAA alleged that Ole Miss knowingly allowed the
violations to occur, demonstrating a lack of institutional control of
    the football program…..”
I hope they are not up to their old tricks again.

What in the world does Brewer have to do with now, Get real, I’ll check with Cash Money $tate and see if their check cleared. Looks like we’re troaling again today. Next

This Robert Henry thing here brought live back into NCAA investigation thoughts. Henry was one of Brewers coaches, now where Cid Riley is getting his info, I have don’t have the faintest idea. Riley claims appear similar to what Brewer, his coaches and Boosters did. I really cannot believe Coach Freeze would allow or have a part in something as disgusting as this occurring again. Hope not anyway. I am not a MIss State and could care less what goes on a Miss State. I was once a long time avid Ole miss fan but thing have changed a bit.

  • Cid Riley

Here’s something to ponder….when things do get sticky with NCAA, will Freeze jump ship, like Chip Kelly did in Oregon. Orgeon State would be a good fit for Freeze, after all they’re the Beavers.#olemissprobation2014.

  • Cid Riley

And now for that ever intriguing question…who will get to their first SEC championship game 1st? Ole Miss or Vandy? Every team in the west has been except Aggies and Ole Miss…

  • REB

You just can’t help but feel great about Ole Miss’s coaching staff. The skies the limit with our players, coaches, fans, improvements at the school, and our recruiting classes. You just can’t help feel sorry for poor old MI$$ $TATE.

    • JB

I really feel sorry for Ole miss they are the one that’s “Hollywood”.

  • Cid Riley

How good is this cool-aid? Still in denial. Refusing to face the truth is an Ole Mi$$ tradition. The best improvement at Ole Miss is the renaming of the football stadium.

  • Cid Riley

Ole Miss “bag man” named in interview with NCAA. Not sure who disclosed this information, but now the dominoes are set up to start falling. Wear you’re hard hats, there’s heavy things set to fall. Run for your LIVES!!!

    • FairviewReb

      Hahahaha…goodluck with that!!!!

  • Cid Riley

All things considered, I got The Johnny Rebs beating Vandy 31 to 27.

  • REB

Lets just quietly let those MI$$ $TATE players transfer, without much of a to do. There poor old program is just in shambles. Maybe they can break out in a song of “DANNY BOY” will help them feel better.

  • Cid Riley

Dude! You live around P’toc, too! Lets get some fried pickles at the Sonic! I have lunch there every Tuesday at 11:35…I will be lookin for ya…lunch is on me…they used to call me “the ridgerunner”, back in the day.I think I got who you are figured out now. Your initials are R.P.? How have you been, dude! You still married to Jenny?
