Hugh Freeze opening statement
Ole Miss defensive players and coaches say they are preparing to see Vanderbilt WR Chris Boyd. He’s currently suspended for his alleged role in the rape case that has made national headlines for the Commodores since June.
The expectation is that cornerbacks Charles Sawyer and Senquez Golson will both play. How much remains to be seen.
Freeze told us Quintavius Burdette will get the start ahead of Golson. “He’s earned,” Freeze said.
Burdette didn’t attend the presser. His teammates and coaches say they’re confident he can win some battles.

Ole Miss safety Trae Elston says better in Year 2 and part of that is with Chief Brown pushing him. DC Dave Wommack says he considers both players starters.
Elston also talks a good bit about the Vanderbilt game last year, one the Rebels feel they left on the table.
