Sometimes you get players who just try to say the right thing. Sometimes you get players who just answer the questions.
The “say the right thing all the time” guys don’t make for good interviews. The guys who answer questions from the heart are always good interviews, but completely truthful and honest answers with no filter can sometimes cause fallback that they and the team will have to deal with later.
As with most things in life, moderation in interviews is a good thing.
We caught Jeff Scott in a good mood Tuesday, and he had not problem sharing with us that he’d watched his game-winning touchdown run about “a hundred times.”
So have many Ole Miss fans.

Ole Miss defensive coordinator Dave Wommack thought the best way to protect inexperienced and ailing cornerbacks was to drop more defenders into coverage.
So Wommack for an Ole Miss team that finished 11th in the nation last year in sacks, fourth in tackles for loss, dialed up little pressure against Vanderbilt. That’s likely to change as the season goes along.
