Fast start for freshmen

The freshmen gag order remains in effect so you’re not going to hear Ole Miss freshmen talk about themselves.

But there are plenty of people — teammates and coaches — eager to talk about the freshmen.

From the Mother Ship, Freshmen paying early dividends for Ole Miss

The biggest names in the class — Robert Nkemdiche, Laquon Treadwell, Laremy Tunsil — played and played well in the opener, a thrilling 39-35 SEC win at Vanderbilt.

But it’s only been one game, and there will be rise and fall within the group.

WR Quincy Adeboyejo drew high praise from Hugh Freeze and got off to a fast start in camp. He played at Vanderbilt but had no catches. There’s a lot of upside with Adeboyejo.

TE Evan Engram is a guy who didn’t have the same recruiting star power attached to his name as some others in the class, a three-star prospect. But on the even of camp Freeze talked about the need to get Engram ready to play, and Engram showed his athleticism throughout the month of August. Then he showed it in Nashville with five catches for 61 yards, including a long gain of 24 yards. He twisted in the air to make that catch on a ball thrown behind him and later posted a picture of the catch to his Instagram account.

As you could seen Chris Kiffin’s comments in the earlier post, he thinks there’s more on the table — much more — for Robert Nkemdiche with just a few adjustments.

It’s been an impressive freshman group on paper that has generated a lot of talk in the off-season.

Collectively they’ve gotten off to a pretty good start.

Not so much a troll, there bobby. Just a college football fan that’s determined to expose cheating programs. Although the sharkfins aren’t relevant, it doesn’t give them an excuse to break the rules!
