Thursday Morning Update

Spanning the globe on a Thursday morning. …

Alabama coach Nick Saban got a commitment from West Monroe offensive tackle Cameron Robinson, the nation’s No. 1 player according to It was mentioned as Saban going into Louisiana and nabbing one from the home-state team, but my memory of that area — a memory that’s beginning to age somewhat — was of a good bit of Arkansas influence along with others. The LSU feelings are strong, no doubt, but it’s not like going and getting great players from along I-10, which Saban has also done while coaching at Alabama.

If my memory of football loyalty — and I mean bigger than La.-Monroe and La.-Tech — in that area needs updating I’d love to hear from you. …

From Athens, a little different approach for the Eastern Division Bulldogs as they try to avoid an 0-2 start.

Speaking of Georgia, one church is trying to call on some assistance — or at least a suggestion or two — from above in trying to stop Gamecocks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. …

From Baton Rouge, LSU coach Les Miles was excited about the start for his offense at TCU under new coordinator Cam Cameron. He says quarterback Zach Mettenberger was “80 percent” in his accuracy …

Thing going good for Coach Freeze and his MIssissippi team, Coach David Cutcliffe had his teams going good, He put the team in five bowl games and won four. But Coach Cutcliffe go the choppin block for his achievements.
