Ash is out

While I’ve been out and about and mostly in traffic it’s been announced that Texas quarterback David Ash is officially out for the Ole Miss game. LINK

A couple of talk radio guys I’ve been listening to view this as a tragic situation. Not a lot of confidence in Case McCoy, and the belief is that Mack Brown will go to true freshman Tyrone Swoopes early.

Ash had big success against Ole Miss last year (19-for-23, 326 yards, 4 TD, 0 INT), but he was boosted by a 350-yard run game.

Ash has gotten off to a good start (39-for-62, 594, 6 TD, 2 INT). He also the team’s leading rusher with only 125 yards.

Arm strength seems to be the biggest knock on McCoy in these parts.

I’ve heard several different talkers over a couple of shows. The phrase “Dumpster fire” has been used to describe the Longhorns but with an asterisk. It’s only smoldering flames, they say, not a full-blown fire  … yet.

There’s also an opinion that there’s no way Texas doesn’t get to eight wins — regardless of what happens tomorrow — due to the strength of the Big 12 this season.

One fella called Ole Miss an average team and says Texas could win 58-56.

When the talk hasn’t been Texas it’s been Johnny Manziel and Texas A&M.

Could you imagine the fallout if Ole Miss were to beat Texas tomorrow and Texas A&M were to beat Alabama?? Longhorn nation might implode.

I’m hoping just that! Could possibly be an exciting match up in Tuscaloosa on Sept 28th.
