On the ground in Austin

I arrived a short while ago in Austin where the forecast calls for 100 percent chance of Hot.

It was an Ole Miss-dominated plane ride from Atlanta to Austin and should be a strong turnout for the Rebels tomorrow night.

At the moment, neither the Rebels nor the fans know which Texas quarterback they’ll see. Longhorns starter David Ash, who passed for 326 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions against Ole Miss last year, has not been ruled out. News coverage from Austin this week indicated that a decision on Ash would be made near game time.

From the Mother ship, if Ash doesn’t play senior Case McCoy will start, and the Rebels could get a dose of a hefty dual threat quarterback in freshman Tyrone Swoopes.

There’s a clearer quarterback picture for Ole Miss, and it’s a good picture — as long as Bo Wallace stays healthy. Its a quick trip to uncertainty after that. If something were to happen to Wallace the Rebels would likely turn to a freshman too — in some capacity.

From the Mother Ship, my column from earlier in the week on the Ole Miss QB situation.

If the Rebels don’t have a game plan and attack strategy for the Texas game now its too late, pack up, the party is over., Good they need to throw in a Freshman QB who has no war time experience. Only Ole Miss QB that ever excelled against the Longhorns in victory was an experienced Ray Brown, All-American Glenn Griffin could not do so I guess they think they can throw a raw Freshman in to do the job, If that Freshman had any potential he would be on a Texas team rather than wondering off across the Big Muddy in search for a hang out place and lands with a team that has been a long time loser. I think that I am wasting my time with Ole Mi$$ Rebels at the least the Gators may be very big and bellies hanging over their belts, but they know how to play defense one of the best defensive teams in the nation, Offense a little off now but it will come around Driskel and Matt Jones getting better.

I don’t think Mack Brown wants to ‘burn’ a med red shirt on his prize recruit Tyrone Swoopes. Case will more than likely play the entire game unless someone rings his bell. 🙂
I really think that Brunetti (no passing please) could run circles around the Longhorn defense. Put Barry in on run options and Bo on passes. Mix it up. Defenses hate preparing for two QBs.
    Fins UPPP!!!
