Highlights from the weekly press conference for Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze
– Today and tomorrow will be spent with emphasis on “self-scouting.” Freeze said his staff is also scouting an unnamed tempo team to see if there’s anything he can add to help him run tempo more often and at a faster pace.
– Players will have off Friday and Saturday. Pierce Burton (ankle) and Emmanuel McCray (back) will have the week off.
– Charles Sawyer is probably back in good standing. There are a couple of requirements Freeze said he needs to check on to make sure they’ve been completed.
– Speaking of corner, Freeze said Mike Hilton graded really high. Also, freshman safety Derrick Jones will move to corner this week. Jones at 6-foot-3 gives the Rebels a bigger body against bigger receivers.
Jones voiced his approval on Twitter, saying he believes he can handle the change.
Freeze also said the blocking by wide receivers and the second-half play in all phrases were as good as he’s seen at Ole Miss.

This from Jeff Scott, the special teams player of the week in the SEC. Freeze said Saturday night, for the second time, that he wasn’t sure Scott would survive in his system but that Scott has made life changes away from football.
