Henderson first team, Rebels seventh

Settling into the downtown Westin for SEC Basketball Media Days.

The Ole Miss men’s and women’s teams go at 1:40. I’ll have video here.

In the meantime …

The All-SEC first-team status that eluded Marshall Henderson at the end of last year he has found at the beginning of this one.

The suspended face of the Rebels’ program made the first-team five as selected by conference media. He joins Alabama G Trevor Releford, LSU F Johnny O’Bryant, Kentucky freshman F Julius Randle and Tennessee G Jordan McRae.

Incidentally, I voted for all five of those. I did not vote Randle as player of the year, which he was named. I voted McRae in that slot.

The preseason second team is Florida G Scottie Wilbekin, Florida C Patric Young, Kentucky F Willie Cauley-Stein, Kentucky G Andrew Harrison, Kentucky C Dakari Johnson, Missouri G Jabari Brown, Tennessee F Jeronne Maymon and Tennessee F Jarnell Stokes.

Ole Miss was picked to finish seventh, trailing Kentucky, Florida, Tennessee, LSU, Missouri and Alabama and ahead of Arkansas, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi State and Auburn.
