Basketball Presser

Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy fielded questions about Marshall Henderson plus a few questions about his basketball team today.

The Rebels take on South Carolina-Aiken Friday night at 6 in their exhibition game.

LaDarius White, also known as Snoop, says he needs to increase his scoring production during Henderson’s suspension. I’m not sure he’d answer to LaDarius.

I asked him about South Carolina-Akien, and he said the Rebels would prepare as though they are facing Kentucky. I’m thinking it’s the first time SC-Aiken and Kentucky have been paired together.

I say let the “Hot dog” have his day and glory, this is still a free country and we can do as we please as long as keep within our constitutional rights. down here in this neck of the wood that I call home i see, All sorts of Tide flags displayed on vehicles as well as many Florida State ones, saw one today U of Miami, a bit rare, but no surprise since Noles will take them on this weekend and with a FSU convincing victory could project them near the top of polls, but i doubt it since they are in the ACC a basketball conference..i am a Gator ,Somehow no Gator flags much are displayed as they once did…But do pull for my State rivals in their battles. UCF another Florida school who is on the move upwards. Back to Flags, I do see some Confederate Flags flying on P/U pick around here, no one in their right mind would even dare try remove one of those. Brotherhood, runs thick in places..Good luck Ole Miss we shall see that basketball team in Gator land one of these days soon.

The only meeting Ole Miss has this season with Florida is Feb. 22 in Oxford. They get close to Gator land as the Georgia Dome host the SEC Tournament. However, if the Rebs make it that far, Stetson in Orlando will host the second and third rounds of March Madness.

I was at the A & M football game a few weeks ago. During the second quarter, a few college kids came down and sat in front of us in section L. My son recognized one of them as Marshall Henderson. He interacted positively with all of the fans around him, posed for pictures with many of the children in the section and high five’ed everyone within reach on each touchdown.

While I don’t know what the question was, I heard him answer one person by saying something like, “Can’t do that. I have to stay on my best behavior.” Who knows if he can keep that up through March, but I was impressed with the way he interacted with fans that night.

    This recruiting news released yesterday:
Rauno Nurger makes commitment to Rebels
    October 30, 2013

The Rebel basketball program has added Rauno Nurger. The 6-foot-10, 230 pound big man. Nurger, played on the Estonia Under 20 National Team. He also played in Estonia with current Ole Miss freshman Janari Joessar.

Rauno Nurger is very solid on the defense end. However, his offense game will need some work. He’s definitely a program guy that will be effective under coach Andy Kennedy’s style.
