Our editor, Lloyd Gray, explains the changes to here. The new pay wall goes into effect today and does include the blogs.

    Goodbye, Daily Journal.
Many of us Reb fans go to several sites and cannot afford to pay each site just to check in from time to time. The Blogs should be free since they are here for fans to chit-chat.

I agree, this paper is ok for boredom, but nothing in it is worth paying for. Most of the stories are just copied from other news outlets. No one cares to pay to read that Joe Blow from Ca is retiring from Toyota. That’s not news. The DJ will be out of business in 5 years.

I guess this Daily Journal has lost its obama stimulus check and looking for other sources of financial income . o

    • Roger Davis

Bet you’re trying to be sarcastic or either your memory is failing. Here’s how that begin. President George W. Bush signed the Economic Stimulus Act into law on Feb. 13, 2008. President Barack Obama did not take office until Jan. 20, 2009.

      • Mike

That’s true. George W. Bush went right along with the Democrat controlled House and Senate with Pelosi and Reid leading the way.

        • The Ghost of Col. Reb

If you don’t believe they are all corporately owned, you’re a damned fool.

          • The Daily Journal, on the other hand, is owned by a non-profit, the CREATE Foundation which invests the money back into the local economy, education, and well-being of Northeast Mississippi. Supporting the Daily Journal directly contributes to supporting our local community and we’re proud of that.

But The. takes its marching orders from the liberal/socialist Obama organizations like MSNBC, CNN,ABC,and PBS,

          • The Ghost of Col. Reb

A non-profit doesn’t make it any different than any other corporation. I guarantee someone’s making a profit….just not paying any taxes.

I think we have the commies (Dems) and commie light (Repubs). Both are power hungry and serve their own interests. There are some good ones in office, but they are few and far between and if they stay too long they all get corrupted. However, I’m not much on conspiracy theories or blaming the rich or corporations for all the ills with the government or society. People have to take responsibility for their lives and the choices they make. And who they vote for…

Since I posted this I’ve been told that a final decision has not been made on access to the blogs. Chris, do you have anything to add to this? As far as “blogs should be free” I disagree. What other business gives away its product? This was not a good decision for newspapers in the early days of the Internet.

  • REB

I believe a small fee would be fair. Not quite as much as being charged.

  • REB

PA. Try to join at later date. lord willing. If not everything on this earth has to come to an end sooner or later. Fair thee well.

  • Noggin

Good luck PA, I’ve enjoyed the blog. Only read the Sunday paper due to work.
Will keep up there and possibly twitter.

  • Parrish Alford

The updated word from Daily Journal World Headquarters is that the blogs will remain free to access.

    • NorthMSReb

I am a dj home delivery subscriber, so this does not affect me, but I wonder if it will last. The Clarion Ledger had free access to the blogs in the beginning, but they changed it a couple of months ago.
