Hilton’s return

Mike Hilton was clearly glad to be back at practice Tuesday and is eager to be part of the Rebels’ plan against Arkansas.

Hilton returned immediately to the first team boundary corner spot with freshman Derrick Jones working behind him yesterday.

Here’s Mike Hilton:

It will be interesting to see how Hilton is used against Arkansas. The emergence of freshman Tony Connor at the Huskie position allowed for the move to corner for Hilton, and Hilton grasped the new spot quickly.

Arkansas is not a prolific passing team right now, its 144.1 yards a game last in the league. The Razorbacks have thrown 11 touchdown passes, eight of those coming in the red zone. You do have to be aware of that as a defense, but the most important factor for Ole Miss this week is stopping the run.

Connor has been a sure tackler, as was Hilton at the position before him. Hilton has played “special” roles before, such as serving as the spy on Johnny Manziel. It wouldn’t be surprising to see defensive calls that have Hilton very near the line of scrimmage to help take away the run.
