In a season that began with his name mentioned as a “hot seat” candidate in some circles, Gary Pinkel hasn’t changed to change Missouri football. He just went to work. Ole Miss linebacker Serderius Bryant on Saturday talked about the upcoming challenge against Missouri’s big and physical receivers. Take a look at Dorial Green-Beckham. …

The benefit of the early game against Troy was that I was home and finished for the day when I caught the end of the Auburn-Georgia game. I didn’t give Auburn much of a chance to rally in that final minute and a half after giving up a three-touchdown lead. Georgia had a bit of defensive momentum, and Auburn can’t pass.

Well, they still don’t pass well, but when two defenders converge and tip the ball up-ward things happen. Terrible things from a Georgia perspective, but Auburn’s miracle finish — referred to soon after as ‘The prayer at Jordan-Hare’ — sets up an interesting Iron Bowl. As CBS cameras scanned the Georgia sideline for as much reaction as it could find, one shot found Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray slamming his helmet to the ground. Murray called the loss “a nightmare.” …

If you didn’t know him as an LSU basketball player or athletics director you probably knew him as an SEC basketball TV analyst where he became popular for his phase “string music” to describe long-range shots that swished through the net. Joe Dean Sr. died early Sunday at his home in Baton Rouge. He was 83. …
