Kennedy talks Middle Tennessee

When the sentence begins “Ole Miss has never beaten …” you don’t expect it to end with Middle Tennessee State.

That’s the correct sentence for Ole Miss basketball under Rebels coach Andy Kennedy, however. Middle is 2-0 against Ole Miss in the current contract having won 68-56 in Southaven two years ago — the game perhaps best known for a serious ankle injury for Murphy Holloway — and 65-62 in Murfreesboro last year.

“It’s certainly been mentioned a few times the last few days,” Kennedy says.

Ole Miss and Middle have played six times with Middle holding a 4-2 edge. Prior to the 2011 neutral site game the teams had not played since 1977. Ole Miss’ two wins in the series were in 1960 and 1963.
