The winter weather appears to be leaving the area, but will it get out of Georgia before the Rebels take on the Bulldogs Saturday afternoon?

OnlineAthens.com says an ice storm warning remains in effect for Athens until 1 EST on Thursday. Maybe the Rebels get in and out unscathed. Though it’s not the hardest hit part of the state, some in the Athens area are dealing with power outages.

It’s suddenly a big game in the SEC standings. Georgia is now tied with Ole Miss for third place in the league after overcoming an early 22-8 deficit to win going away at Mississippi State. It’s worth noting that Georgia had a lot of success in the paint.

Elsewhere in SEC play last night, Auburn’s one-man show against Kentucky was not enough. The Georgia game is huge for Ole Miss in terms of resume-building. So are the back-to-back Florida and Kentucky games in Oxford next week. …

Outside the SEC, Memphis coach Josh Pastner has suspended a player for cursing and says freshman Dominic Woodson won’t make the upcoming trip to UConn. …

Here’s ESPN’s take on the top 20 in college baseball, which begins tomorrow. …
