Spanning the globe on a Monday morning …

More on the tempo offense debate. Repeatedly, coaches are saying they’ve been surprised by this proposal from the rules committee.

This from the Virginian-Pilot and this from former Ole Miss coach David Cutcliffe, now at Duke and coming off a 10-4 season. USA Today asks the question, “What’s behind the proposed college football rules change?”

Elsewhere …

Texas Tech is adamant that its unhappy QBs won’t transfer within the Big 12 without going through all the required hoops and hurdles.

Speaking of QBs on the move, USC’s Max Wittek was scheduled to visit Texas over the weekend.

The Indianapolis Star says the Colts trade for Trent Richardson was a “disaster” and because of that the team must reassess its approach to the draft.

That could include taking Donte Moncrief at wide receiver. The story wasn’t overly impressed with Moncrief’s junior season but is with his talent level.

Johnny Manziel made news over the weekend by challenging the local Houston Texans to take him with the first pick in the draft. He says they’ll be making a big mistake if they don’t.

Staying in the NFL …
