Spanning the globe on a Friday morning …

Donte Moncrief will not rest on his NFL Combine accomplishments and will take part in Pro Day activities at Ole Miss on Monday. Some other interesting names who will be on hand include Enrique Davis and Nick Brassell. Complete list here.

More on Moncrief: Bruce Feldman said he had freakish numbers at the Combine. This from Gil Brandt: Moncrief is a big receiver (6-2 3/8, 221 pounds) with great speed; his 40 was timed officially at 4.40. He didn’t play nearly as well last season as he did in his 2012 season, but he looked impressive catching the ball at the combine, and I thought he really helped himself. More from Brandt here.

Spring football begins next week at Ole Miss. …

Ole Miss infielder and Tupelo native John Gatlin celebrates healing with this X-ray photo. He’s expected to be a right-handed pinch-hit option off the bench. He’s 1-for-3 with an RBI so far.

In SEC basketball there was a big win for Arkansas at Kentucky last night. The Rebels play at Arkansas on Wednesday following their weekend trip to Texas A&M. …

The $60 million high school football stadium in Allen, Texas — not a typo — will be shut down indefinitely after what officials say is extensive cracking of the concourse area. The new stadium replaced a 35-year-old stadium which is still 12 years younger than Tad Smith Coliseum. An NBA scout sitting next to me and seeing the Rebels’ gym for the first time assessed it this way: “This is an old building.” …

ESPN’s Mel Kiper says Auburn offensive tackle Greg Robinson could be the draft’s top overall pick. Johnny Manziel is also a candidate for the top pick. Here’s what Jon Gruden had to say about John Football.
