Bousfield’s fast start

Going into the 2013 season Ole Miss coaches pegged their sophomore center fielder, Auston Bousfield, as a guy with All-SEC potential.

Last season ended with Bousfield slumping, but he’s been one of the biggest reasons the Rebels have gotten off to the start they have this season.

Ole Miss, 17-2, is at home tomorrow night at 6:30 against Arkansas State.

Bousfield talks about his season here:

Hitting coach Cliff Godwin talks about Bousfield, another other topics here:

Bousfield is hitting .393, sixth in the conference. He’s second in hits with 35 and third in total bases with 53. He’s tied for the team lead with three home runs, one of them his grand slam to win Game 1 at South Carolina.

Coach Kennedy hired the right assistant…Hitting Coach Cliff Godwin He could have gone virtually any where. He’s turned down some head coaching jobs to coach at Ole Miss. That says a lot about the man. Not to say if the right job came along–at the right school–he wouldn’t eventually move UP. He’s made the difference in hitting this year and hopefully will the Rebels in the top tier of the SEC.
