Saturday Football Scrimmage

I am in Tuscaloosa awaiting the start of Game 2 in the baseball series with Alabama. David Collier of The Daily Mississippian helped us out with the football scrimmage ..

Defensive coordinator Dave Wommack expressed optimism last week in his unit’s ability to create turnovers, and the Ole Miss defense followed through with that in today’s scrimmage.

Head coach Hugh Freeze said the three fumbles by the Rebels’ offense were “way too many.” Still, he found some bright spots, particularly in the run game.

Here’s Freeze:

There was give and take in the scrimmage, and Freeze singled out the play of redshirt freshman running back Jordan Wilkins and sophomore wide receiver Laquon Treadwell.

Freeze noted the physicality of Wilkins and said, “The redshirt year paid dividends.”
