Looking ahead to MSU series

Ole Miss catcher Will Allen likes the way the Rebels are swinging the bats right now. He says it was important not to overlook two mid-week games — wins against Memphis and Murray State — and now the Rebels can focus on rival Mississippi State.

Ole Miss has won six straight going into the series. The Rebels swept Auburn last weekend while MSU was swept at LSU. Allen doesn’t believe the previous weekends matter and expects State’s best shot on Super Bulldogs Weekend.

Allen is second in the SEC right now with 38 RBIs. He was 2-for-4 and drove in a run against Murray.

The Rebels may be without a key member of their bullpen, Aaron Greenwood, for the MSU series.

Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco says he won’t take Greenwood on the trip unless he believes he can get into a game and help.

Bianco says he’ll know a little more about Greenwood’s status today. He talks about that and other topics here:

Bianco is playing mind games. Greenwood will be there. He won’t be need, though. Sharkfins will sweep Mississippi State. It won’t be close. Sharkfins are HOT.

There won’t be a sweep from either side… I think you are the one playing mind games Mr Fungus…
but there will be some exciting baseball palyed over the next few days… Msu got HOT at this point last year. OM won the 1st 2 games and was on the way to the sweep when MSU overcame a 6-0 deficit for the win. MSU went on a tear after that. But dont get me wrong, I would be happy with a SWEEP… just doesnt seem likely. Anyway, good luck to your team!
