Tough Enough

Check out our sports front here.

Ole Miss pitcher Sam Smith says toughness is more than a buzz word. He says it’s something Ole Miss coaches and players talk about every day.

It’s something that was on display by the Rebels Sunday in a 12-2 series-clinching win at Mississippi State.

It would have been easy for Ole Miss to be somewhat lethargic after Saturday’s collapse, but that wasn’t the case.

And here’s Logan Lowery’s game story with comments from MSU coach John Cohen plus a nifty photo gallery from Thomas Wells.

Posting about the 07 Egg Bowl got Karl thinking…when was the Sharkfins last win in Starkville??? It was 2003!!!! That must really sting.

  • Joe

Karl/Cid/Turfguy/whatever is a typical state fan. When he thinks that Ole Miss will beat state, he starts saying that Ole Miss should sweep them. That way if state happened to win, he could say, state beat y’all with an inferior team. But if Ole Miss wins, he can say that he was right because he said Ole Miss was better.
So now what does he do? (typical state fan) He starts bringing up the past to make himself feel better. If you look at the last several years in football the home team almost always wins. Unless Ole Miss or state is just terrible the home team wins. Very few times, if the game is really competitive does the away team win. If I was a betting man, I would bet that Ole Miss will win the Egg Bowl this year and unless state just falls apart, they will win it the next year.
Does it sting to not win in Starkville since 2003? No, because as much as we love Ole Miss sports, our lives do not revolve around it.

Aw Joe, I must say that Karl is a realistic fan and calls it like it is. If Karl believes Mississippi State is better or will win, Karl will say so. If Karl thinks the Sharkfins are better or will win, Karl will say so. Just calls ’em likes Karl sees ’em. That’s an atypical fan, bro!! My life revolves around the TRUTH!!

      • TheGiantRebel

Listen up dungus… Just a week ago, you were saying the dogs would sweep the rebs, and that the rebs would not win another series this year…so your life revolves around BS and LIES… and you cannot keep your lies straight!

        • karl Hungus

Yo Giant!! As Gary Oldman says in those terrific HTC commercials…blah, blah, blah. Blah blah blah. Blah blah blah, blah blah blah.

  • karl Hungus

One more thing Joe. It’s the end of the world as we know it…and Karl FEELS FINE!!! Karl brought up the past, because KBZ brought up the idea of fans leaving before a game was over….dude, you gotta read all the comments to see the context in which replies are made.

    • Joe

KBZ was stating a fact that was not even directed to you. But you just can’t help yourself. You have to try to defend state. It is sad and pathetic. I’m sure you brag to your state “friends” about all of your activity on this Ole Miss blog. I promise that they are laughing at you behind your back. Because most people with jobs barely have time to keep up with their own teams, much less their rival. You are obsessed with everything Ole Miss. Your “friends” probably think that you are crazy. I know most people on this blog think that you are crazy.
I could care less about Mississippi state. When Ole Miss plays state, I want to see Ole Miss win. The rest of the time, I don’t care what state does. I can count on one hand how many times that I have been on the state blog in the last year. Because Ole Miss fans don’t care about state. The state fans that I know, who have jobs and lives, don’t care about Ole Miss. You need to get a job, a hobby or a wife or something. You have too much time on your hands.
This is my last post for the day because some people have jobs.

Hey Joe! Maybe I am retired…married, with two kids in college. Maybe I own 2 condos…one in Aspen and one at Orange Beach. Maybe I own a pharmacy…you don’t know…anyway my life is just fine and the rent money keeps coming in. Sorry you still have to work, bro!

  • karl hungus

Having trouble with Karl Hungus’ enigmatical musings? It is a conundrum isn’t it? Keep trying, I welcome your futile attempts to out perform The Great Karl Hungus.

  • UMBBFan

Why any Ole Miss fan would read what Karl/Cid writes ie beyond me. I see his name then I skip to the next post. Responding to him is the only thing that gives him power. Just do not read or respond. It makes this blog much more enjoyable. Maybe someday Karl will actually have a real life and will have something more important to do than try to irritate Rebel fans. Maybe.

    • Joe

You are right. Reading or responding to anything he says is a waste of time.

  • karl hungus

Turn your eyes from the truth. Numb your minds from thought. Learn to tred lightly through the land mines of speculation and you will never be enlightened. Karl Hungus lives in the truth and some cannot bear to witness it.
